Le Chateau Style Challenge – Layered Look

One of the most important rules for menswear style during the fall and winter season is to layer-up your look. While helping to keep you warm from the chilly weather, layering your clothing is visually appealing and adds interest to your outfit. With a few layering options you can easily dress-up a more casual outfit, like the one we styled below.

With the help of Le Chateau, I took a basic pair of khakis and a white dress shirt and transformed the look. They have lots of options for dress shirts, literally dozens of different colours, fabrics and fits! I finished off the look with a bow-tie and belt from the Le Chateau accessories. The finishing touches were the blue-suede jacket, blue-leather shoes and a plaid hat.

(Keep in mind, you can also opt for a regular tie that can be tucked under the sweater or go without a tie and undo the top collar buttons. Make sure the dress-shirt collar doesn’t hang over the collar of the sweater/blazer/etc, or else you could end up looking like John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever. Going for a preppier look? Try leaving the collar buttons done up all the way without a tie.)

Le Chateau is a go-to shop for lot’s of women, especially for their shoes, and the mens department is catching up! I picked up these blue, leather shoes (above) from their Toronto Eaton Centre location.
