Fashion on Yonge hits the Catwalk for fall 2015

Downtown Yonge consolidates its reputation as Toronto’s most vibrant fashion district with the 3rd annual Fashion on Yonge event, which hits the catwalk on Wednesday September 9, 2015.

The event is presented by Downtown Yonge Business Improvement Area (DYBIA) and features 300 outfits in three runway shows from some of the 150 apparel and accessories retailers in the area. The event is free of charge and open to the public.

“Not only is Fashion on Yonge a great platform for our fashion retailers to showcase trends for the Fall season, it is also a chance for visitors to sample food from local restaurants and indulge in beauty treatments like mini-manicures,” says DYBIA executive director Mark Garner.

The audience can expect to see fashions from stores like Town Shoes, Bench and Danier, with make-up from global cosmetics retailer Inglot and hair by local salon Spellbound.

Designs from the Toronto Film School’s fashion design students will be featured during a special runway show at the event – as will fashion from Toronto Men’s Fashion Week (TOM*)’s winning Emerging Menswear Designer.
Fashionistas can win their favourite designs of the night if they ‘Tweet it to Win It’.

If you spot something you love during the runway shows, take a photo and post it on Twitter for a chance to win that outfit,

Fashion on Yonge moves to 444 Yonge Street this year, the same historic art deco building at College Park that will host TOM* from August 19-24, 2015.

“Fashion is becoming a key focal point in Downtown Yonge, and as a key partner of TOM* the DYBIA is excited to share the same space,” Garner said.

Doors open at 5:00 p.m. with music from DJ J-Lah and on-site model styling.

At 6:00 p.m. the audience will be treated to the first of three runway shows, moving from casualwear to more formal choices for the season.

The event, which is presented with no cover charge and is open to the public, will take place on Wednesday September 9, 2015 at 444 Yonge Street. Access is from Hayter Street at Yonge Street, on the south side of College Park and across from the AURA Tower.
