Toronto-Is-FashionWindsor woman’s doggie designs headed to New York fashion runway

Darlene Hachey from Windsor, Ontario will create a new line of gowns, hats and formal wear including a crocheted wedding dress which will show on a New York fashion runway later this month. Her doggie couture will be presented at the third annual Paws in the City pet fashion show May 30 at the Copacabana in New York City. Doggie fashions has become big business around the world over recent years.

Vancouver’s Dress For Success a hit

From authors to broadcasters, stylists and hosts, the women walked the runway to show off Holt Renfrew’s summer collection. The Shop for Hope event at Holt Renfrew was about giving women the opportunity to pursue their dreams by also dressing the part. The Shop for Hope fashion show benefitted Dress for Success (DFSVancouver) – an international not-for-profit organization that helps women find jobs and remain employed. Each Dress for Success client receives one suit when she has a job interview and another when she finds work.

Matthew Lewis’s risqué fashion shoot

In a photo that has gone viral, Harry Potter star Matthew Lewis is getting a lot of attention for a recent photo shoot. The photo spread shows the shirtless, 25-year-old actor reclining in a suggestive pose. It also caught the attention of Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling who tweeted “ Warn me next time, for God’s sake,” the bestselling author posted Thursday. “I hastily averted my eyes and read an article on Political Correctness to get over the shock.”

Cara Delevingne Opens Up About Her Frustrations With The Fashion Industry

In a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal, the the 22-year-old British model admitted that modelling leaves her feeling unsatisfied. “I ended up feeling a bit empty,” she said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal. “Fashion is about what’s on the outside, and that’s it. There’s no searching, it’s just creating pretty things.”

“It’s horrible living in a world where I’ll get a call from someone saying, So-and-so says you were partying a lot and you were looking this way and you need to lose weight,” she told the magazine. “It makes me so angry. If you don’t want to hire me, don’t hire me.”

Fashion Bloggers Can Make Up to $20, 000 per Instagram Pic

Danielle Bernstein, 22, runs the blog We Wore What, and has 992,000 followers on her Instagram.  Currently, her rate card sets the cost of a single piece of sponsored content from $5,000 to $15,000, but she explained to Harper’s Bazaar that this rate can go up or down depending on the number of posts a brand requires and length of her relationship with the company. We think the prices bloggers are charging for an Instagram pic are crazy considering the actual conversion of advertising the Insta pic to amount of people who actually go out and buy that product.

China’s Nanjing Arts Institute Debuts 3D Printed Fashion

This past week, the Nanjing University of the Arts, School of Design, held an incredible fashion show focused solely around 3D printing technology. The design school, which has over 2,100 undergraduate students in attendance, held this event in the school’s recreation area, featuring over 150 individual 3D printed fashion designs, made by 42 different students. The show marks another fashion milestone for 3D printing.

Oscar De La Renta Documentary at Cannes

Featuring US Vogue Editor Anna Wintour and his widow, Annette de la Renta, the 20-minute film, directed by Ryan Curtis, is a behind-the-scenes look at the first posthumous exhibit of the designer’s work at the SCAD college of art and design, with which the late designer was closely involved. The film shows the creation of the exhibit through the eyes of a bright-eyed young student, who looks in wonder at the myriad designs — including Hillary Clinton’s famous red dress that graced the cover of Vogue in 1998. The film is titled `Ovation for Oscar.`

UK Fashion & Textiles Awards

British textile companies, retailers and designers gathered to honor industry imaginaries at the annual UK Fashion & Textiles Awards held in east London. Princess Anne awarded 10 accolades with Erdem Moralioglu scooping the designer business award, Teatum Jones for women’s wear, Drake’s for men’s wear, and Noel Stewart Millinery for accessories. Designer Olivia von Halle took home an award for lingerie, Tootsa MacGinty for childrens’ wear, Alice Made This for the UKFT Rise Newcomer, Joshua Ellis & Co. for textile manufacturer, Sourgrape for Let’s Make It Here, and Alex Begg & Co. for the exporter award.

Kardashian Kids coming to Australia

Recently announced, the Kardashian Kollection has confirmed it will launch Kardashian Kids in the Australia market in the near future. A big step for the growing clothing line, which was co-founded by designer and fellow Aussie Bruno Schiavi, and will open at Woolworth`s Big W stores within Australia in August.

Fashion Mix Up on Red Carpet

Whoops! Fashion retailer `Nasty Gal` took to Twitter to celebrate that superstar Taylor Swift was wearing one of their jumpsuits on the red carpet. Only problem is that the dress was actually a Balmain dress! Nasty Gal, who is routinely called out for copyright of designer goods, put its stiletto foot in its mouth so-to-speak, as they publicly admitted their design is so close to copying the original that they couldn`t even tell the difference. No word on any legal action from Balmain yet.

Balmain is Next H&M Collaboration designer

H&M has announced another exciting designer collaboration with Balmain. The fashion label will design a limited edition collection for the Swedish retailer that will surely have a huge debut and fun campaigns! For more information, click here.
