Last week we were invited to Toronto luxury shopping destination ‘The Room’ inside the Queen Street W. location of ‘The Bay’ to meet designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy, the sisters behind the amazing fashion label Rodarte,
seemed surprisingly un-fazed by the amount of admiration being offered up from the stylish crowd. This isn’t to say they were stuffy or stuck up, but you could clearly tell their focus is on design, not getting bogged down by being in the spotlight, even though they were the two most sought after gals in the room. Both sisters dressed casually for event, Kate donning dark jeans, a cardigan and her signature blunt bangs and Laura pairing black slacks with a chiffon, button-up blouse. With their Fall 2012 collection decorating the venue space, the sisters worked the room charming the likes of Suzanne Rogers and Stacey Kimel (two women who could buy up every piece in the pricey collection without batting an eye).
If you don’t have “socialite” money in your bank account to play around with, don’t sweat it. The Room’s now notorious Spring Sale is just around the corner and with amazing price points, this may be your chance to own a Rodarte piece. Or two.
