Canadian luxury retailer Birks hosted a magazine launch event at the Royal Ontario Museum last week. The magazine, a high-end publication that matches the brand’s status, will focus on modern design and cater to devotees of fine jewelry, travel, food and design.
In Canada, the magazine will be titled 1879, the year that founder Henry Birks opened his first small jewelry shop in Montreal. In the U.S., where Birks owns and operates the Mayors chain of jewelry stores across Florida and Georgia, it will be called Mayors Magazine.
Birks selected St. Joseph as its exclusive partner in this new venture and the media firm were happy to work on the new magazine. 1879’s publisher Douglas Kelly, who runs Strategic Content Labs, a division of St. Joseph’s Media Group said,
St. Joseph is thrilled to be working with Birks on this project. The elegance of the writing and design will strike a chord with the audience and further reinforce Birks as a leading lifestyle experience,
The current issue of 1879 has a circulation of 150,000, 100,000 in Canada and 50,000 in the U.S. The second issue will be released in September. For more info on this event, go behind the scenes with us on Behind The Blog.ca
